What is apples to apples?
Lennox, Bryant, Carrier, Trane- all these brands are either dealer direct or dedicated distributors which means you have dedicated support when there are any warranty issues. Many brands such as Goodman, Comfortmaker, Rudd and Rheem are sold through a 2nd party distributor. This means you are one step further away from the manufacturer and often left without or with limited support.
This is the SEER, EER, HSPF ratings as set out by the AHRI Directory (Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute) which is in charge of independent ratings of HVAC systems. A comparable efficiency would be a 16 SEER unit compared to a 16 SEER unit.
