If you’re intrigued by the idea of cutting down on your use of fossil fuels, you’ll like hearing more about geothermal heating. The entire premise behind this method of heating, which is quickly gaining popularity, is to take advantage of the earth’s natural heat. David White Services can install a system for you that transfers this natural heat to your home.

The Specifics

While each home may have a slightly different configuration, the industry uses a ground loop system to transfer energy from one place to another. The heat from the earth underneath your home is absorbed by a water solution that’s carried through a system of pipes from the ground to your home. A heat pump then takes that heat, which is a form of energy, from the water and moves it into the air. At this point, the system works like many traditional heaters, as that warm air is pushed through the home’s ductwork system.

Added Benefits

Just like heat can be transferred into your home, heat can also be transferred out of your home. The reserve of the process described above can cool your home in the summertime.

Geothermal exchange systems can be set up in a number of ways. If you prefer having a water-to-water heat pump instead of one that has a water-to-air configuration, you’ll be able to put in hydronic radiant floor heating. Also, if you want to take advantage of the geothermal heat to heat your water, we can put in an additional device to make sure the water heater is looped into the system. At David White Services, geothermal heating is one of our specialties, and we’d be happy to talk with anyone in Athens, Lancaster, or anywhere in the area.

Founded in 1977, we have a long history of service here in Ohio, and our family-owned business works on heating and cooling systems as well as fireplaces. Contact David White Services if you’d like to discuss the possibility of installing geothermal heating at your home.
